Seeding
Using tractor-mounted equipment this process can be varied to suit different situations. Seeding is an inexpensive method of establishing vegetation over large flat areas.
Typically, the soil is first scarified to loosen the surface. Large rocks and sticks should then be removed before seeding. The seed and fertiliser can then be spread, followed by rolling to seal the surface.
Seed can be watered to speed germination. However watering can be expensive over large areas and care should be taken not to start the germination process and then let the seed dry out by not maintaining sufficient moisture levels.
One method of reducing watering and increasing germination rates is to cover the seed with mulch. Straw mulch can be used if it is sprayed with a binder, or Tub Ground Mulch generated from tree clearing can be used.
